"Thanks Y'all" sign from the state of Mississippi to the relief workers leaving Gulfport. We found the people of Mississippi disinterested in fixing blame and very interested in fixing the problems. In the words of their governor, they were "hitching up their britches and getting to work." The people we met and interacted with were focused on shared goals: restoring their lives, their communities and thier state. Their attitudes and actions were refreshing when compared to some of their neighboring state's residents and government officials.
