Doug manages to do the near impossible and gets a rear flat on the salt flats. It went down while I was running about 80. Mark Johnson stopped by. He was running "mid-sweep," which was actually "really, really, really early mid-sweep" as there were only about five riders ahead of me at this point. We thought we had fixed it by cleaning some slime off of the shraeder valve, but it went down again about 1.5 miles later, again at 80. This time Walt Baehr and Bill Kaeppner stopped by. We had a pretty good time changing the tube and trying to keep the sand out of the tire. I don't know if there are two guys on earth who can have a better time doing anything better than Walt and Bill.
