We took a break at the entrance to the national park in the rain forest. A permit is required to ride through here.

This vine is called the "wait a while" vine, so named because if you get caught in these hooks, you'll need to wait a while to get out. These are part of a parasitic palm tree that climbs and smothers host trees as it grows up to the rainforest canopy. Rattan furniture is made from the mature vines of this plant.
