Dawn on day two. Walking over to the restaurant at the Old Mill. 

Very foggy and misty in the Aloe Vera forest. Not pleasant for Jimmy at 4am flagging the course, but beautiful for the riders.

Jim Libby is a dentist and a professional fisherman. When the fish are not running, he takes care of people's teeth. When the fishing season is on, he spends weeks at a time out on the ocean fishing. Fortunately, he still remembers how to stitch up an open wound. Mark Force had hugged a cactus, and Jim dug out the thorn and stitched him up.

At lunch in Catavina. 

Hey, in a pinch, just about anywhere is a good place to swap a tube. On the front steps of the hotel in Catavina.

Bill has a flat in a very nifty spot. These were the luxury accommodations nearby.  

Slime works pretty good unless you slice the tube.

Somehow, the grizzled vets always seem to be freshly showered, rested and well into swapping lies, er, stories, by the time I get in.

Good thing that Emmet got warmed up on Buffy, because Mark Force soon arrived. He had ridden in about 95 miles on a broken leg. 

Emmet needed to confirm that it was indeed broken, so he injected some saline, pulled back out some blood and fluid and examined it.

Examining the fluid in our not-so laboratory like water bottle. Emmet was looking for fat in the blood. That would show him that the bone marrow had been breached. This is the method used when there is no X-Ray available in the field to confirm a bone break.

Wayne and the support team pulled the head on this rental bike. The guy didn't understand the concept of detonation, so when it started pinging on the beach he just kept the throttle on.
